I built an AI assistant for a home daycare — here's what it does at 9pm on a Saturday...
The owner runs a licensed home daycare in Sacramento. 14 kids, 4 staff, play-based curriculum, waitlist deep. She's incredible at what she does.
But she was also answering the same parent questions at all hours — on weekends, after bedtime, during dinner. When you run a daycare out of your home, there's no front desk between you and the next "do you offer weekend care?" text.
So I built Sunny😊
Sunny is a custom AI chatbot that lives on her website. It answers parent questions 24/7 using the owner's actual policies, her actual language, and her actual boundaries. Not generic daycare responses — her voice.
🧠 What Sunny handles:
- Hours, tours, age range, curriculum, and waitlist signups
- The full illness and exclusion policy — fever thresholds, lice exposure rules, pink eye return requirements — walked through conversationally, one question at a time
- After-hours and weekend boundaries (warm but clear — no babysitting, no exceptions)
- Address privacy — the home address is never shared until a tour is confirmed

- Quote pricing — every family gets a personalized rate from the owner directly
- Make promises — anything requiring judgment gets flagged immediately
- Pretend to be human — she identifies herself as Sunny, the daycare assistant

- Email notifications the moment something needs her attention
- A closed days manager she can update herself — holidays, vacations, staff days
