Duolingo’s homepage is bold, fun, and engaging, but I saw an opportunity to make it even more “user-focused and conversion-driven”.

So I redesigned the hero section to enhance clarity, emotional connection, and flow, while staying true to the brand’s personality.

Figma just dropped Slots, and this is a semi-big deal.

If you've ever detached a component just to customise it, you know the pain. Lost link to the main component. No upstream updates. Design system slowly fractures.

Slots fixes this. Flexible zones inside components where you can add, remove, and rearrange content without detaching.

This also mirrors how components actually work in code. Engineers build with slots natively. Designers have been faking it. That gap just got smaller.
