If you sell software to enterprises, you've heard this advice.
"Get your security audit done before you sell to enterprises."
Sometimes that's true.
But it's usually not the real problem.
The real problem is silence.
Big companies have people whose job is to ask one question.
Is this safe to buy.
About a third of the YC AI websites I checked don't answer it at all.
No security page. Not one line.
So the buyer asks by email. You reply. They ask more. And the deal waits.
Here's the fix 👇
#1 - If your product touches customer data, you'll likely need the audit (it's called SOC 2). Not ready yet? Say when it will be.
#2 - If it doesn't touch their data, you probably don't need it yet. Say that clearly.
#3 - Either way, add one page that answers 5 questions in plain words. What data you use. Where it's kept. If you train your AI on it. Who else can see it. Who to email.
Bottom line: the audit can wait. The answers can't.
We write and design pages like this for our clients.
