A great product can still fail without the right Go-to-Market strategy. Building a great product is only one part of building a successful business.
The bigger question is:
How will the right customers discover, understand, trust, and choose it?
That's where Go-to-Market strategy comes in.
Before launching, I believe startups should clarify:
01 — Ideal Customer Who is most likely to need and pay for the solution?
02 — Core Problem What specific customer problem are we solving?
03 — Positioning How should the product be perceived compared with alternatives?
04 — Messaging What value should customers immediately understand?
05 — Acquisition Channels Where can we realistically reach the target audience?
06 — Conversion Path What needs to happen between discovering the product and becoming a customer?
A strong GTM strategy connects these pieces into one clear path:
Market → Customer → Positioning → Message → Channel → Conversion
Without this alignment, businesses can spend heavily on marketing while still struggling to acquire the right customers.
Launch isn't the strategy. The strategy is knowing who you're launching for, why they'll care, and how you'll reach them.
I'm currently developing independent strategy case studies around Go-to-Market Strategy, Brand Strategy, Market Research, and Business Growth.
What do you think is the most overlooked part of a startup's GTM strategy?
