I’ve been testing AI tools to generate packaging concepts.
Here’s my honest take: AI is powerful, but only if you are clear.
If your prompt is vague, the result is generic. If your style direction isn’t defined, it defaults to whatever the model thinks is “good design.” Which usually means safe and trend-driven.
The better results came when I had the opportunity to art direct it or design a draft reference that I could use to guide the results.
And typography? Still hard, nailing intentional type systems is another story.
Are you using AI… or is AI designing for you?
The clearer and more detailed the prompt, the better the results. It's just like the old saying of "garbage in, garbage out"

Very true. AI doesn’t replace design judgment — it amplifies the precision of intent. Without clear constraints, outputs naturally drift toward generic visual averages.
Curious. do you usually sketch a rough type system first before prompting? Typography still feels like the real battleground.
Sometimes I do! But I also like to provide accurate prompts and see how the AI interprets it

Like everything, the labels and stickers that hide on the undersides and insides of our products have been considerately designed, often following strict brand and system rules.
I love systems, so typographic, grid-based design will always have a place in my heart. This is my small tribute to micrographics, each following the systems I've been seeing in the wild.

I’ve been testing micrographics by designing care labels for my plants. I always leave instructions when I travel, so I turned it into a little design experiment.
