I’m designing an alert feature to help users monitor their parents' medication adherence. The goal is to notify children when a dose is missed, while also allowing them to view upcoming schedules, all without feeling too alarmist.
How would you balance this sense of urgency with a supportive, clear UI? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this design direction!

Both layouts look clean. Option A feels way less stressful but I love the direct call button in Option B. what if you use Option A normally but dynamically swap to Option B urgent alert if a dose is late by a few hours?
Yes it'll be there if the parent miss to confirm the dose and it's bee over 1 hr. So parent also have some time to confirm the dose and no frequent notifications will be the on the child side.
Option looks nicer and cleaner overall but I'd have to go with Option B cos it does a pretty good job in calling your attention to Papa's health, which is the purpose of the app

B has more urgency, nothing like a big red panel in your face to tell its urgent.
