For the FLORA Museum Challenge, I started digging through The Met’s public archive. I came across Scribner’s The Last Quarter-Century in America, and I just really liked the Americana feel of it — especially that vintage lithograph style. So I brought it into FLORA and started playing around with the idea, using the canvas to explore where I could take that visual language. And that’s where The Twelve Companions came from. It’s a vintage mixology card deck with twelve archetypes, each paired with a classic American cocktail. Once I had the whole deck, I thought, okay… what if I brought these cards to life? So I animated them and created a short film showing the kind of world where this collection could actually exist. Basically, I took something from the past and used it as a starting point to create something completely new.”
