What if a new tool also makes you question your place?
Proud to share my #ConfigMakeathon submission — Detached Instance.
It's an interactive visual novel about finding your place in a rapidly changing world. You make choices, play minigames, and the story responds to them. I hope somewhere in there it reflects something back at you.
Here's how it got made.
šŸ“‹ FigJam — I wrote the full story here using an MCP connection with Codex. Every scene, every branch, every character placement and dialogue, laid out as tables so I could see the whole picture. Those tables were exported as CSV and became the source of truth for the game in Make.
āœļø That's 400+ dialogue lines. All written and structured in FigJam.
šŸŽØ Figma Weave — First time using it. Genuinely a game changer. The node-based workflow clicked immediately, and I ended up generating over 200 assets. Character sprites, backgrounds, UI elements.
šŸ—‚ļø Figma Design — This is home. The logo, nameplates, UI components, asset organization, background removal on sprites. Everything lives here.
šŸ¤– Design Agent — The main reason this game exists. It's what sparked the whole idea. And ironically, it's also what helped me ship it on time. Renaming layers, organizing components, cleaning up assets, and generating minigame mockups. All of it faster than I expected.
āš™ļø Figma Make — Where it all came together. The main game, the dialogue engine, the minigames.
