A watchmaker can spend an afternoon on an adjustment nobody will ever consciously notice — shaving the escapement by a fraction of a millimeter. Nobody looks at a watch and thinks "ah, perfect beat error." They just feel like the watch is right.
Animation timing in After Effects works the same way. Move a keyframe two frames earlier, swap a linear ease for a slight overshoot — the client will never say "the interpolation improved." They'll say the button "feels more responsive" or the transition "feels expensive," with zero idea why.
I used to think that kind of polish was wasted effort since nobody could name it. It's the opposite. It's the one part of the craft nobody can copy off a template, because it's not visible enough to steal — you have to already know exactly where to look.
What's the invisible detail in your own work that only you seem to notice?
