I spent time reading LinkedIn's official Top Voices policy and researching the profiles of LinkedIn Top Voices.
One thing became very clear.
LinkedIn isn't looking for creators.
It's looking for trusted professionals.
According to LinkedIn, Top Voices are recognized for consistently sharing expertise that educates, informs, and inspires the professional community—not for chasing viral posts. LinkedIn also highlights consistency, originality, subject-matter expertise, meaningful engagement, and professionalism as key factors.
After reviewing dozens of Top Voice profiles, I noticed the same patterns:
• They share original ideas, not copied content.
• They teach from experience, not just theory.
• They focus on one area of expertise.
• They reply to comments and build conversations.
• They create content to help professionals—not simply to sell services.
• They remain consistent for months, even when engagement is low.
The biggest lesson?
Likes don't build authority. Trust does.
If your goal is to become a LinkedIn Top Voice, stop asking:
"How do I go viral?"
Start asking:
"How can I become the most trusted source in my niche?"
That's the difference between creating content...
and building a reputation that LinkedIn wants to recognize.
