THE OCEAN REMEMBERS
What I Built
I created “The Ocean Remembers,” a short cinematic 3D-animated film about ocean plastic pollution and the consequences of everyday choices.
The story follows Daniel, a father who casually throws a plastic bottle into the ocean without thinking much about it. The bottle eventually breaks apart, a fish ingests a plastic fragment, and the consequences eventually become part of Daniel's life in an unexpected way. When Daniel realizes the connection between his past actions and the world around him, he chooses to take responsibility and help protect the ocean with his daughter, Emma.
Why I Built It
I wanted to show that environmental problems don't always begin with dramatic decisions. Sometimes they begin with something as small as “just one bottle.”
Instead of making another informational video filled with statistics, I wanted the audience to feel the consequences through a simple human story. Daniel's journey from carelessness to responsibility makes the message personal, while Emma represents curiosity, innocence, and hope for the future.
The film's central idea is simple: what we put into the ocean doesn't simply disappear.
I built this story to encourage people to recognize that their everyday choices matter and that protecting the ocean can start with something as small as deciding not to throw away that one bottle.
