You can’t automate confusion.

One pattern I keep seeing in growing teams: - Something starts breaking, so another tool gets added.

- Then another dashboard. - Another automation. - Another template. - Another process.

Eventually there’s more system than clarity.

The problem is often further upstream.

1. Is the workflow actually clear?
 2. Does every stage have an owner?
 3. Are decision points defined?
 4. Does the process still need to exist?

If those answers aren’t clear, automation just makes a broken process move faster.

I’ve learned to resist building too early.

Sometimes the right answer is an automation.

Sometimes it’s redesigning the workflow.

Sometimes it’s giving someone clear decision authority.

And sometimes it’s deleting the process entirely.

The goal isn’t a more sophisticated system. It’s a business that requires less effort to operate clearly.

The editable-field pattern is the right call, and the engineering move that makes it scale is a per-field confidence score coming out of the OCR pass. Once every extracted value carries a confidence, the UI can stop treating all fields equally — auto-accept the clean reads and float the shaky ones to the top for review. Formation dates and EINs are exactly where character-level OCR tends to slip, so weighting review time by confidence beats asking people to re-check everything. That's the line between a confirmation screen that feels thorough and one that feels like busywork.
