Click-ops to Terraform on live production
An entire running cloud estate brought under infrastructure as code without taking production down.
Who it was for: An organisation whose cloud estate had grown by hand over several years.
The problem. Everything had been built through the console. Nothing was reproducible, nothing was reviewable, and nobody could say with confidence what would happen if a region went away. Rebuilding from scratch wasn't an option — the estate was live.
What I did. Imported existing resources into state rather than recreating them, working through the dependencies that don't import cleanly by hand. Refactored into modules along the way so the output stayed maintainable. Every change went through plan review before apply.
The result. The full estate is under version control with reviewable changes, and the cutover ran with zero production downtime.

A working demo is not the same as a production-ready product.
Sometimes the best thing you can do for your client is delay deployment until the product is truly ready.
The project is feature complete.
Everything works perfectly in the demo.
So naturally, my client wanted to deploy it.
But during the final review, I found a few production-readiness issues.
And that's something many people misunderstand...
"It works" doesn't always mean "It's ready for production."
Before a real launch, a product needs proper testing, monitoring, security, reliability, and scalability.
If we skip these checks, the real users—not the developers—will find the bugs.
Delaying deployment isn't about slowing down the project.
It's about protecting the client's business and ensuring a successful launch.
A good developer doesn't just know when to deploy...
They also know when to say, "Not yet."
AWS Infrastructure Migration & Standardisation with Terraform

Cloud & DevOps Engineer
Project description:
An end-to-end cloud infrastructure standardisation project focused on bringing an existing AWS environment under Terraform management.
I imported running resources without recreation, reorganised the infrastructure into reusable Terraform modules and isolated remote states, and implemented GitLab CI/CD workflows for formatting, validation, planning, review, and controlled deployments.
The project covered core AWS networking, compute, storage, IAM, security groups, and multi-region resources. The result was a more secure, repeatable, and auditable infrastructure workflow with consistent deployments and reduced manual configuration.
Key contributions:
• Imported existing AWS resources into Terraform safely
• Developed and adopted reusable infrastructure modules
• Implemented separate remote states for infrastructure components
• Built GitLab CI/CD workflows for validation, planning, and deployment
• Standardised multi-account and multi-region infrastructure
• Improved security, consistency, and deployment control
