Why we built a file editor that asks for the target size
Most online file editors and file compressors work the same way: you pick "low, medium or high" quality, press a button, and hope the result fits whatever limit you actually needed — an email attachment cap, an upload portal, a Discord server's file-size ceiling. If it doesn't fit, you run the tool again and guess differently.
realfileeditor flips that around. Every compressor here starts from the number you actually care about — the file size — and works backward to hit it, instead of starting from a quality preset and leaving the size to chance.
We started with PDFs and images because they're the formats people hit size limits with most often, and we built each tool to run entirely in your browser: nothing uploads to a server until you choose to download the result, and processed files are removed automatically afterward.
The toolkit is still growing. You can see exactly which tools are live and which are on the way on the homepage — we'd rather ship a smaller set of tools that genuinely work than a long list of placeholders.
