In this project, I analyzed five years of historical sales data from a global retail dataset to understand how discount strategies impact profit margins across products and categories.
Using Excel dashboards and Python data analysis, I explored the relationship between discount levels and profitability and identified several products where excessive discounting generated negative profit margins.
The analysis revealed quick opportunities to improve profitability by slightly adjusting discount levels. In many cases, a small reduction in discount was enough to move sales from loss-making to break-even or profitable transactions.
