Thoughtful UI/UX design where clarity meets real value
Business:
LUMEX — a dental clinic in Kyiv, 12 years in practice, known for
pain-free treatment and a written guarantee on all work.
Problem:
LUMEX offers a free first consultation to attract new patients —
but because it costs nothing to book, no-shows are a constant drain on chair time. The clinic is small enough that the same person treats patients and handles the front desk, so every booking used to mean a manual callback to confirm a "preferred time" typed into a lead form.
Solution:
The "Book Free Visit" button on the live LUMEX site now leads
straight into a real booking flow — patients pick an actual open slot
instead of guessing at a preferred time, get instant confirmation, and
receive a one-tap day-before reminder to confirm or reschedule. That single
extra commitment point is what cuts the free-slot no-show problem. On the
owner's side, every new booking appears in a live dashboard the moment it's made — no calls, no manual cross-checking against a calendar. Somewhere inside this early-19th-century silver sauceboat, a serpent is sleeping.
This pair of French Empire–style silver sauceboats bears the mark of A. Rasch & Co., a Bavarian-born silversmith working in Philadelphia. Among the most refined pieces of American silver produced in the early 19th century, they feature boldly sculptural cast serpent handles and ram's-head spouts. The engraved crest belongs to the Milligan family of Maryland.
I found this Rasch & Co. piece (Philadelphia, Empire style, Milligan family crest) in @metmuseum's open archive — and couldn't stop thinking about that cast snake handle. So I built the moment before it existed: the snake still alive, coiled inside the bowl, slowly waking up and folding itself into the handle it was always meant to become.
