Designing for the invisible economy. 🛠️✨
How do you build a digital portfolio for someone who has never used a smartphone? That was the challenge that drove my submission for the Contra x Figma #ConfigMakeathon.
Meet ShramID.
India runs on the labor of 400 million blue-collar workers. But because they are hired purely through word-of-mouth, they have zero digital proof of their skills. No resume means no trust, and ultimately, limited economic mobility.
Since nearly 70% of this workforce faces literacy or tech barriers, a standard consumer app was bound to fail. So, I threw out the keyboard and designed a 'zero-tech' ecosystem that is entirely voice-driven and fully localized in their native language.
🗣️ Zero-Typing Onboarding
Workers visit a local center and simply speak about their past jobs. Our native AI instantly translates their voice into a clean, structured digital profile.
🤝 1-Tap Employer Verification
Past bosses receive a secure SMS link. Without downloading any apps, they can verify the worker's history, leave a star rating, and record an audio testimonial with a single tap.
🪪 The Offline Passport
The digital profile is converted into a physical, scannable QR card for the worker. When a future employer scans it, they instantly see verified skills and hear real voice vouches in their regional language.
ShramID is more than an interface—it’s a trust protocol designed to turn unrecorded labor into undeniable proof.
