I will embed into your company and work with you to streamline operations and empower your team to deliver a more cohesive product. My goal is to craft a great experience that does right by users and brings desired business outcomes.
As a self-starter, I love to immerse myself in a new industry and processes and get my hands dirty if that means a better result. I’m used to working with lean teams or on my own to beat expectations and punch above our weight.
Thanks to my experience in both development and design, I’m be able to communicate and collaborate across disciplines, contribute to work if needed or to help hire for those positions. I’m also familiar with the startup lifestyle, so I’m used to limited resources, lots of items in the backlog and hard pivots.
I’m available on a full-time or fractional basis.
Translating your vision into development requirements
I work with founders and stakeholders to shape up their business ideas and hypothesis into actionable items with clear goals and structure.
For new companies, I’ll help narrow down the scope on what’s necessary and build out an MVP version to start getting real feedback and assessing market traction.
Product discovery
Refining the product vision by talking with users and other stakeholders, collecting feedback, setting up paired sessions and analyzing data. I’ll work through assumptions, formulate hypothesis, evaluate responses and establish insights.
Initial design & MVP development
As an early Product hire, I can contribute to building out the product and fill in the gaps on the team — be that in UI / UX design, front-end or back-end development.
Help with product positioning
For a product that’s already live, I can evaluate the competitive landscape and common objections to see what can work better. I’ll propose strategies to further positioning in current market niche, improving user experience or adapting the product offering.
I can also help with producing public or investor-facing material, preparing pitch decks and other collateral.
Managing development process
I prefer to be directly involved in the development process — tuning into the heartbeat of the team helps me catch issues and gain insights for features in development.
As a developer and designer myself, I can communicate with both and better understand the intricacies of how the product is implemented or severity of roadblocks. That also helps me streamline existing processes and set up new ones.
I try to balance my management experience with team velocity — instead of being an obstruction, new processes should increase information throughput and not waste time. So I try to streamline as much as possible and reject cargo cult processes.
Being directly involved also helps me ensure quality, especially when things may be done haphazardly and require an extra quality pass.
