Process
• Step 1: Getting ready
If your organization has already produced an ESG report in the past I will use it as a starting point. If not, I will draw inspiration from relevant examples of your marketing communication. I will also research your competition and examine reports produced by other organizations. This is the best time to send me your brand identity guidelines.
• Step 2: The look and feel
I would begin with designing three graphic concept of the same page, ideally one containing an article, an image, and a graph. The one you like the most will become the foundation of the whole report.
• Step 3: Setting up project files
This is the moment where I would request from you all the project materials: text for the report, data for the infographics, company photos. I will create a template that can be reused in future publications. It will have several grid-based master pages for covers, text pages, section openers, special features and so on. It will also have styles defined for every instance of text. The infographics will be saved as vector images embedded in the document.
• Step 4: The first draft
At this point all possible combinations of different types of content will be fully defined, and I will send you the document for the first round of revisions. This step is still suitable for structural and compositional changes.
• Step 5: The second version
After I receive a revised document from you I will implement all the changes. By now we should agree on position and appearance of all the elements, and further revisions should only deal with changes in text. At this stage I will begin preparing the document for its designated medium. For example, for example for the digital version I will check all the hyperlinks; for the printed version I will remove the underline and ensure that the text makes sense (e.g. a printed document doesn't say 'click here').
• Step 6: Final output
I will perform thorough quality assurance check and produce a PDF file that is fully compliant with your specifications.
What's included
ESG Report
You will receive a PDF document perfectly optimized for either print or digital publication. The print version will come with 10 mm bleed, colors converted to CMYK, images set at 300 dpi. The digital version will have an interactive table of contents, internal document navigation and functioning hyperlinks. If your enterprise has defined visual identity I will adapt my design to it. Otherwise I will come up with a graphic style that corresponds to the tone and content of the report, as well as the nature and core values of your business.
