The case study will consist of several parts: a quick introduction to your client's business, an explanation of the challenge they were facing, how they tried to overcome it, why they chose your solution over someone else's, how the solution was integrated, and what the measurable results were.

We'll start with a brief. If you don't have one, I will provide a template for you.

If you already have all the information I need, that's great. Otherwise, I will talk to your client and keep you in the loop of all interactions. Email, Slack, Zoom — anything that works for you and your client is fine with me.

While we are discussing the case study, I will help you come up with ideas on how to illustrate the case study — unless you already have someone doing just that for you.

Once the first draft is ready, we'll go over it together, collect your edits, and then I'll incorporate them. We'll batch edits to keep iterations to a maximum of two.

The next step is to get the draft approved by the client. We'll ask them to get everyone to agree and present us with a single list of edits. Sometimes it works! They will usually have their IT, marketing, and PR people have a look, and sometimes even their legal people (ouch). So this usually takes a while, but don't worry, I'll be there with you every step of the way.

I'll harmonize their edits with what you want the case study to show. We'll do one last review, and then you can take the final copy and give it to your web people for publishing.

Based on my experience, I estimate the project's duration at 4 weeks. The real timing will fluctuate around that number. The ball could be on your client's side for weeks. Or they could be real sweet and hand you over their edits the same day. The important part is that whenever you have edits for me, I'll incorporate them lightning-fast.

Typically, if you've been in business for years, you will also have a graveyard of failed case studies. Maybe your client insisted on an NDA and refused to waive it for the case study. Or simply denied providing useful information. I can advise how to still use whatever you got there in your content marketing. That comes as a free bonus for you.
