My copy editing service focuses on finished, polished manuscripts that are one step away from querying agents or publishing houses. I will focus on grammar, punctuation, spelling, syntax, and sentence structure, and will provide minor sentence-level rewrites as needed. If you are looking for developmental editing (plot, characters, setting, etc.), that is a separate service. My rate is $.008 a word, or $40 for every 5,000 words. For example, if your manuscript is 75,000 words, your rate would be $600.

I first read the manuscript through, noting any obvious corrections. Then, on the second pass, I perform copy edits and refer to Chicago Manual of Style, 17th Edition, as well as Merriam-Webster's online dictionary. I add comments via Microsoft Word, and if you send me your manuscript in Google Docs, I will copy and paste the manuscript into Word if you do not already have MS Word.

I will fill-in the style sheet during the first read-through and then refer to it for consistency during the second pass.
