Process

ONBOARDING: The client onboarding process is started where the designer and client have a discovery meeting to discuss project scope and other project details (via google meet). After the client and designer chat, a short questionnaire is completed by the client to help the designer in the sketching and research process.
PHASE 1: Strategy & Mood Boards Based on information given by the client in the questionnaire, the designer begins establishing strategy points and the brand voice. Two moodboards are crafted for the client to choose from. At the end of this phase, the strategy and mood boards are presented to the client and the client provides the designer with proper feedback to begin phase two.
PHASE 2: Round 1 Design & Feedback The designer begins working on 1-2 design directions based on the client's mood board decision from the previous phase. At the end of this phase, R1 designs are presented to the client and the client provides the designer with proper feedback to begin phase three.
PHASE 3: Round 2 Design & Feedback The designer solely works on one design direction and fully explores the graphic identity with all touch-points. At the end of this phase, R2 designs are presented to the client and the client provides the designer with proper feedback to begin phase four.
PHASE 4: Round 3 Final Design & Revisions The designer begins the final round of designs and makes revisions based on the last round of feedback. At the end of this phase, the final round of designs are presented to the client and the client provides the designer with minimal feedback to begin phase five.
PHASE 5: Brand Style Guide & Deliverables The designer creates a thorough instruction manual on using the client’s brand system. Once the brand guidelines are completed, the finished project deliverables are given to the client with all necessary file formats (with limited access).
OFFBOARDING: Once the designer receives the final payment for the project, the designer gives the client full access to their brand guidelines and deliverables.

FAQs

  • Are animation deliverables includes in this service?

No, animation of brand assets are not included in this service. This service includes the base necessities for a brand and some extras, including, brand, color, and typographic systems, as well as secondary graphics. If you are interested in 2D animation during the process, we can discuss the addition of animation work. Additional animation work is billed hourly, so if you are billed at a fixed rate for this branding service, then animation would be billed separately at $50/hr.

  • Can I receive any brand assets before the project is finished?

No, all brand deliverables will be provided to the client at the final phase of the service (Phase 5). This ensures that only final brand assets are used for the brand publicly, and not "in process" assets.

  • Am I (the client) responsible for copy (headline, body, caption) for this project?

No, the designer will generate copy to use during this project, BUT the copy will not be as high-quality as a copywriter’s work, so specific designed assets will be editable for the client to change later on if they would like. Any copy that the client already has or is generating is welcome during the design process.

What's included

  • Logo Designs

Client will receive a primary logo, secondary logo, and possible other logo lockups based on the project itself (primary and secondary guaranteed).

  • Color System

Client will receive a primary color palette, as well as a secondary color palette based on the brand design.

  • Typography System

Client will receive a typographic system that covers headline, body, and caption copy. Depending on the used typefaces in the brand system, the client will be responsible for purchasing Desktop or Web Fonts. If the font does not need to be purchased, access to font files will be provided in the brand book.

  • Secondary Graphics

Client will receive editable files with secondary graphics, which can include anything that isn't the logo, color, or typography. For instance, a brand created may include patterns as part of the brand system, so the client will be provided with all assets needed for the patterns.

  • Brand Touch-points

Before the project begins the client gets to choose four touch-points for the designer to include in the final presentation. The designed touch-points can include: t-shirt, hat, coffee cup, notebook, water bottle, etc.

  • Brand Guidelines Book

Client will receive an interactive pdf document with guidelines for brand usage, including, logo, color, type, and secondary graphics treatment. The brand will be thoroughly explored in the guidelines, so the client can effectively use the brand system. Links will be provided in the document for access to fonts, as well as access to downloadable files.
