FAQs
What do I need before starting a packaging project?
To kick off a packaging project, you’ll need the product details, an idea of your audience, your brand identity, some insight into competitors, any legal requirements ( barcodes, labels, and disclaimers), clear expectations for costs and deadlines, and a creative vision to guide the design!
How long does the design process take?
The timeline is from 6 to 10 weeks, and the process can take less than that. Possible cornerstones can include rules and regulations for packaging text content that should be controlled by the legal team if necessary. Another aspect to consider is the printing vendors and their timelines.
We live in different time zones. Will this be an issue?
Not at all! I'll adjust my schedule to fit meetings and discussions at times that are convenient for you!
What's included
Discovery & Strategy
We work with a collaborative approach that will keep you involved and updated at every stage. Here’s how we deliver our services: A live, in-person, facilitated discovery phase where we uncover deep insights about your viewer base and internal stakeholders, as well as project-specific goals and benchmarks. Typical discovery sessions last a total of 4 hours over the course of one or two days.
Overview
We will work together on an intake questionnaire, focusing on priorities, ideal client, vision, and philosophy behind the brand to create the best solution for packaging design. This knowledge will be applied to the next stage - Packaging concepts.
Design Foundation
Before any design begins, you will receive a creative direction that outlines the overall style of the future packaging. This will include research, a mood board, as well as some indication of what to expect from the process.
Packaging Concepts
Generate initial ideas and concepts based on the research findings. Brainstorm potential designs and directions. We’ll present two (2) initial concepts with contextual applications. Then we’ll help you decide on a single direction and refine. Includes up to three (3) rounds of revisions.
Testing and Feedback
Gather feedback from stakeholders, including clients, focus groups, and target consumers. Incorporate suggestions and iterate on the design accordingly. Refine the design based on feedback and finalize all elements, including graphics, text, dimensions, and materials.
Prepress Preparation and Printing production
Prepare the design files for printing, ensuring they meet the technical requirements and specifications of the printing process. This phase includes collaboration with external printing services. The prices of the packaging production will also be defined at this stage. We will work with printing vendors to produce the final packaging materials. Monitor the printing process to ensure quality and consistency.
Packaging Guide
Creation of the packaging template guide that will enable you and your client to potentially expand the product line in the future while maintaining a cohesive brand presence across the range.
