FAQs
Nope. I work full-time in the financial/tech industry as a UX Designer. I love my job, but also enjoy doing fun and unique projects on the side. I often choose to work on projects that are different from what I work on day-to-day. This helps create a good balance and keeps me inspired and passionate about my craft. The sweet spot I've found over the years is taking on about 10-12 hours of additional work per week. As a result, I'm selective about what projects I take on and I tend to work in the early morning hours from 5:00-7:30am – when it's quiet and my mind is fresh.
Just me! I’m an artist, product designer, brand designer and illustrator from the Midwest. I've been honing my craft for over 20 years now and take a lot of pride in everything I create. Whether it's applying brush strokes or pushing pixels, the goal is the same – stay inspired, get better, and have fun.
Meetings and calls have their place, but in this era of great async communication tools, they're often a waste of time. Communicating through video recordings, Slack, Figma, or even email has proven to be much better for both my clients and myself, enabling everyone to be more productive with their days. With that said, sometimes it makes sense to hop on a quick Zoom call or, if you’re local, actually meet in person. I’m flexible and will do my best to accommodate within my current work schedule. Good communication is key to a successful project and I take it very seriously.
Figma and Framer for product and web design. Adobe and Procreate for branding and illustration.
Yes. I do not cover the following design work: 3D modeling, complex animations, video editing, complex packaging, or long-form document design (catalogs, magazines, books, etc.)
If we’ve never worked together before I’ve found that starting with a smaller pilot project works well. This allows us to scope a specific amount of work for a flat fee. Plus, it gives us both a chance to see how we work together before overcommitting. Some returning clients have opted to move to a retainer model. This is usually a 3, 6, or 12 month agreement where I dedicate a fixed number of hours to your projects for a recurring fee. Given my availability, this is usually around 5-10 hours per week. The benefit my clients have seen with this approach is I become an extension of their team and a healthy chemistry often begins to develop.
