Summary

Brand and development services with extensive collaboration, total customization, and maintenance documents for after the contract ends. I've had the pleasure of working with several incredible brands in the retail, literature, and academic spaces, and I have launched a few of my own, giving me a unique perspective on the kind of strategies and amount of work that go in to developing and launching a brand or store. On top of my experience, I aspire to keep a growth mentality, constantly seeking further education and always willing to learn something new from others in the industry.

Process

The process that you can expect to go through when working with me looks a little something like this:
Hiring: we agree to work together and finalize the details of our contract. This is where the process begins and until we are under contract, we won't be able to talk much about the project. This protects me--obviously--but it also protects you and your brand. During the hiring process, we will have a 15-30 minute consultation via phone or zoom where we discuss your expectations and your needs, so I can put together a proposal for you. This proposal will be the basis for the contract and the way we move forward through our time together.
Secondary consultation: after we have signed our contract and are ready to begin, we will sit down with the proposal and you will tell me where you're hoping to go, how you want to get there, and what you struggle with as a brand and business owner. This consultation is expected to be between 45-90 minutes and can really look however you want. I will ask questions and take notes throughout, and we may even spend some time looking at inspiration photos and discussing what you like and don't like about the things you see. This is when you would show me any existing documents you have and send me any inspiration photos you want me to use as we go through the construction process.
Plan Building and Approval: after our second consultation, I will take my notes, the documents you have sent me, the contract we signed, and the proposal that we started with and turn them into a plan that works with the time table and expectations that we both agreed to. I will send the plan to you for approval before I begin working on the project. The plan is generally ready 12-36 hours depending on the time table and I will begin working on the promised deliverables as soon as you approve the plan.
Asset Development and Completing Deliverables: in accordance with the plan, I will begin working on the assets and deliverables that we have both agreed to. This means that, in whatever order you need them, I will start completing tasks and producing brand assets. During this time, I will send updates on a daily or weekly basis (your choice) and reach out with any questions I may come up with as I work through your project. I would expect that you respond promptly and I would promise you the same.
Checkpoint: at this point I will send you drafted brand documents to review and give feedback on. This means you will receive three options for logo style and three options for color palette, but it also means that you will receive a drafted style guide and drafts of any other documents I am working on. I will give you 48 hours (you don't have to use it all) to review the files I have sent you and will either continue to work on other parts of your project, or will remain available for your questions and comments. Once I have your selections and final approval, I will resume my work on the project and resume sending updates at the end of each day or week, depending on preference.
Final Submission: at this time, your project is complete and I will hand it over to you minus the maintenance instructions so that you can review the documents. It's my hope that you won't have change requests or concerns, but if you do, that's okay. We'll work on perfecting the package together.
Revisions: I want you to be happy with your package, so I will work with you to ensure that you are. We can make minor adjustments to any and all of the documents and when you're satisfied, I will compose your maintenance instructions document. This will tell you or your team how to maintain the integrity of your brand and how to maintain the voice we have established, but it will also include any additional information you need to make sure that you can get as much life out of the work I've done as possible.
Conclusion: I send you the final package of files and we meet for a brief wrap up. I usually expect these calls to be about 15 minutes, but they can be longer if you have other needs you want to discuss. I can usually help with other issues you have and if I can't, I usually know someone I can refer you to.
Brand Audits: usually recommended every 6-12 months, I invite my clients to come back to me for a discounted brand audit service. During this service, I will go back through and update their catalog, identify areas where they are not complying with the style guide, and evaluate their use of brand voice. This is also a good time for us to decide to undergo a refresh--also offered at a discounted price--and reevaluate the branding documents that we came up with to make sure they're still working for us.

What's included

  • Complete Catalog with Clean Copy

    At the end of our time together, I will provide you with a clean catalog of product listings and descriptions in a word document, excel document, or file of canva documents that you can upload into your store. For those willing to grant access, I will happily generate the listings myself and leave them in an unpublished state for review. If needed or desired, you may purchase, pay me to purchase, or otherwise provide me with mockups (if we are working with Etsy) to use for listings. Listing catalogs over 25 listings may incur an additional charge.

  • Clean Website or Brand Copy

    When selected, this deliverable represents the clean copy that I hand over to clients at the end of a contract. This may be things like email templates or brand documents, but it may also include the copy on product listings, document copy, or other brand items. Clean copy is free of mistakes and follows brand style wherever possible, as well as adhering to brand voice.

  • Brand Representative Briefing

    At the conclusion of every contract, I provide a 1-2 page summary of what I have done and how the brand can maintain the standards that have been set. This allows brands and teams to stretch the time between services on their sites and brand documents by teaching them to do some of the maintenance work on their own. I work hard to ensure that these final documents are simple and easy to use, because I know what it's like to try and maintain a system using instructions that don't make sense. I also prioritize the simplicity of the process I design and aim to make sure that teams feel confident in what they need to do.

  • Data Migration

    If you elect to include this service in your order, I will be responsible for migrating internal data from one storage solution to another. In some cases, this may involve changing documents from one format to another, but in general, the focus of this service is to move and organize brand documents in a streamlined, maintainable way.

  • Brand Consultation and Package Design

    A 90 minute brand consultation that results in the development of a branding package. Sometimes we're working on a refresh or rebrand, but often we're starting from the beginning and forming a brand identity from scratch. Regardless of the reason you're seeking this kind of service, you can expect a high quality experience and implementable result. At first submission, you will get three logo style options and three color schemes that you can review. At this time, you can request modifications or you can select the options you feel represent your brand and we can move forward with the rest of the package. A finished brand package includes a logo and variants, color scheme, style guide, typography guide, a photography style guide, a business card design, and a summary of services that will allow you to maintain your brand integrity between implementation and your first brand audit.
