The Client

Barb Higgins came to me 2 years ago with an incredible story that became the basis of her podcast. After losing her 13 year old daughter, she survived several brain tumors, and had another child through IVF at 57.

She was inspired to create her podcast, A Thousand Tiny Steps, a weekly video podcast sharing stories of grief and trauma. It is about trying to find the joy in tradgedy and the strength to move forward in ones life in the face of death.

From speaking about her experiences in the podcast she was able to process many emotions and write a book, Motherland on her daughter in order to raise funds for her non-profit, The MollyB Foundation.

Challenges

When Barb came to me 2+ years ago she was:

Overwhelmed by all the information on podcasting

Had never had a business before 

Had no brand assets, products, or marketing strategy

Podcast Goals

Barb wanted to:

Share her story of losing a child to help promote her non-profit

Bring in more revenue for her non-profit and business

Create a community for other grieving parents to find support

What I Did

Over time as we worked together, we expanded beyond just the podcast launch:

Podcast launch - to kick off the whole process with cover art, podcast description, host setup, etc.

Weekly video editing - to take out ums, long pauses, and rearranging the story to flow better

Weekly email newsletter - including the show notes to help promote her podcasts and products 

Guest management - finding guests to be on the show to bring value to her listeners

Monthly Pitching - Barb has now been on numerous podcasts including The Grief Refuge

Podcast Strategy - to help plan out episodes and marketing strategy

The work that has been done has inspired her to write a book, she has filmed a commercial, been on several billboards in NYC including Times Square, and having a video podcast has allowed her to reach more people, create a more personal feeling, and caused one of her videos to go viral with 27K views.
