Omega launched the legendary ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ watch 10 years ago. I composed an orchestral piece of music for this special anniversary.

Considerations went into the composition: The chronometer-certified watch is a true masterpiece and the piece of music to go with it should sound like one.

The watch case is made of ceramic. The movement is also something special and was a revolution in watchmaking when it was introduced in 1999. It is a Co-Axial escapement. This design ensures greater precision over a longer period of time and a more stable power reserve. 

When I was composing the short orchestral piece for the commercial, words such as dark, solid, robust, enduring and precise, as well as powerfull, strong, sporty and resilient came to my mind. This watch is a real top athlete for your wrist.

Chanel released a commercial starring the actor Margot Robbie in 2024. I didn't think the music was appropriate for the short film and developed a new composition and rearranged the sound effects.

Considerations went into the composition: Chanel chose music by the band Daft Punk for this short movie. This is of course good news for all Daft Punk fans. However, I believe that music should continue the storytelling of a movie. Music makes a statement and should enter into a close symbiosis with the moving image. Music conveys emotions – in combination with targeted sound effects.

I therefore opted for an upbeat synth sound and a striking beat that additionally supports the ongoing action of the film. The film also has moments of suspense and surprise, which should be conveyed by the music.

The people in this film are constantly on the move. The short movie is never monotonous, but full of variety. It was important to me that this fact was reflected in the music.
