Starshot - Screenshot for Agents & Humans

Product Development | Open Source | Developer Tools | Cloudflare

Starshot is a deliberately small, open-source screenshot transport tool for people, coding agents and browser automation. It accepts an existing image, optionally creates a lighter preview, uploads it to Cloudflare R2 and returns a terminal-friendly public URL in under 1 second.
The same workflow is available through a cross-platform Rust CLI and a macOS Finder Quick Action. Human and automated captures use separate storage paths and lifecycle rules, while listing, clipboard and retry tooling keeps visual context easy to move without introducing another asset-management platform.
A Rust Worker compiled to WebAssembly provides the authenticated upload service, backed by R2 and designed to remain portable, configurable and straightforward to self-host.

What I did

Defined and built the product end to end as a deliberately narrow screenshot transport layer for people, coding agents and browser automation.
Engineered the cross-platform Rust CLI, macOS Finder Quick Action, WebAssembly upload service, Cloudflare Worker and R2 storage architecture.
Kept native capture behaviour intact and made the service configurable around each user's existing Cloudflare account rather than introducing a proprietary platform.

Outcomes

Reduced screenshot sharing to a single command or Finder action, typically returning a public URL in under a second.
Separated human and agent uploads with appropriate storage paths and lifecycle rules while keeping the complete system lightweight and self-hostable.
