Deploy Optimization

During my previous employment with TUNE I took it upon myself to improve our deploy times. This was in a period where the team had lost the members who had domain expertise on Ansible and our Infrastructure team had moved to other means of dependency management and deploying changes - so we were fully in the dark on how our deploys worked.

To address this, I learned Ansible independently, and monitored our deploys over a period of weeks as I tweaked the infrastructure until our deploy times moved from 3-5 hours to just 10 minutes with far fewer failures. Though the period the work was done over was long, the hours billable for a project like this would be very small since it's a matter of analyzing any deploy/task metrics I can and following up with tweaks to infrastructure for next time.

Closing out this project I wrote extensive documentation for the team on how to use Ansible, what common issues they can run into with the infrastructure in place, and how the infrastructure was changed so that going forward anyone can address issues with the platform's infrastructure.
