Paybis Crypto Platform: Building a Scalable 2D Explainer Video System

For Paybis, we produced a series of eight 2D explainer videos designed to make cryptocurrency topics easier to understand through visual storytelling. The challenge was not simply to animate eight individual scripts, but to establish a recognizable visual language that could work consistently across different subjects; from Bitcoin and crypto transactions to security, verification, and fraud prevention.

We developed the project from the ground up, creating a custom illustration system, character set, environments, UI elements, icons, and graphic assets specifically for the series. The result was a cohesive visual identity that allowed every video to feel connected to the Paybis brand while still giving each topic its own narrative and visual personality.

Our production process started with the script rather than the visuals. For each video, we analyzed the narrative and divided it into scenes based on the key message, pacing, transitions, and information hierarchy. We then created a low-fidelity storyboard to solve the storytelling before investing time in polished artwork. At this stage, we determined what should be communicated through characters, UI animation, diagrams, symbolic graphics, or transitions rather than simply illustrating the voiceover literally.

Once the narrative structure was approved, our illustration team developed the final assets and translated the rough storyboard into a high-fidelity storyboard using the actual characters, environments, interface components, and graphic elements that would appear in the animation. This workflow gave the client a much clearer representation of the final video before animation began and reduced unnecessary changes later in production.

Technically, scenes were prepared with animation in mind from the illustration stage; assets were separated into controllable layers, characters were designed for articulated movement, and compositions were structured to support camera moves, transitions, masking, scaling, and continuity between shots. Character animation, interface motion, typography, diagrams, and abstract crypto concepts were then combined into one consistent motion language rather than treated as disconnected visual effects.
Video 3 of the series
The first video took approximately one week to develop because it also served as the visual R&D phase for the entire series. We explored the level of illustration detail, character design, composition, motion language, transitions, and balance between Paybis' existing brand identity and the new illustrative direction until we reached the style the client had in mind. That investment became an efficiency advantage for the remaining seven videos.

The final production stage brought together 2D animation, character motion, UI animation, voiceover, music, and sound design into a complete communication system. Timing was built around the voiceover so that important visual actions appeared exactly when the corresponding concept was introduced, while transitions were designed to maintain continuity from one idea to the next instead of repeatedly resetting the viewer's attention.

By the end of the project, Paybis had more than eight standalone animations: it had a scalable visual framework for educational, product, social, and advertising content. The same approach is especially effective for SaaS, fintech, Web3, and technology companies that need to explain complex products repeatedly while keeping their videos visually consistent, recognizable, and efficient to produce at scale.
