Contentful Announces New AI-Driven Updates

The composable content platform is leveraging generative AI for faster and more efficient on-brand content creation and scalability.
Contentful, a best-of-breed composable content management platform, announced the launch of new AI-driven products and capabilities last week as part of their Storylines tour. The new capabilities will unlock intelligent digital content across the organization so brands can scale the impact of their customer experience.
“Generative AI has ushered in a new era in which we all can accelerate our creativity by leveraging the power of machines to improve speed, experimentation, and collaboration,” said Contentful CEO Steve Sloan. Sloan also stated that AI technologies will “revolutionize the way we create, deliver, and interact with content” and the slate of new integrated tools for their composable content platform were created to capture that potential for retailers and help them drive the business value of content.

Contentful updates

The updates span across three key areas: the Contentful Platform, Contentful Studio, and the Contentful Ecosystem.
Updates to Contentful’s Platform center on breaking down content silos and orchestrating content from across the organization, while maintaining enterprise governance and security. One such update is the expanded EU data residency footprint, which will help organizations better protect their data and meet EU compliance requirements. These updates join the Contentful platform’s previously released AI Content Type Generator, which aims to streamline the content model creation process for faster time to market.
A new Experience Builder within Contentful’s Studio offers teams a developer-free digital assembly and management experience, featuring what Contentful describes as a “visual canvas” to create consistent brand experiences leveraging a design system and a structured content foundation for scalability and consistency. With an AI Image Generator and the AI Content Generator, which quickly creates content, translations, and SEO keywords, they’ve woven gen AI throughout the Studio, as well.
The last major updates are in Contentful’s Ecosystem. New partnerships and enhanced integrations with leading technology partners such as AWS, Twilio Segment, commercetools, BigCommerce, and Cloudinary will improve accessibility, boost analytics capabilities, enhance performance, simplify front-end development, and streamline content operations.
AI is playing a role in the Ecosystem as well, with Contentful partners Writer and SurferSEO. Writer’s new AI Content Detector integration will enable editors to determine if content has been generated by AI, and SurferSEO’s AI-driven SEO keyword capabilities will help brands effectively and efficiently drive more traffic to their sites.
In the announcement, May Habib, CEO, Writer, remarked, “With the combined power of Contentful and Writer, marketers can leverage generative AI to scale content production while ensuring brand integrity – a point of concern for many businesses.”

Contentful’s latest updates reflect the growing impact of generative AI on the way brands create and utilize content. They face the twin challenges of producing content that is on-brand and consistent, yet is efficient to scale.
