Problem

New mothers often experience feelings of isolation and loneliness, especially during the early postpartum period. Motherhood also comes with a steep learning curve, and moms frequently seek advice and share experiences with other parents. They seek guidance, exchange tips, and some form of emotional support.

Solution

I designed a community app for new moms that address the multifaceted needs of mothers during a pivotal and often challenging phase of their lives. It offers a supportive environment, access to knowledge, convenience, and opportunities for social interaction, ultimately contributing to the well-being and confidence of new mothers as they navigate the journey of motherhood.
By providing a comprehensive solution, such an app not only enhances the well-being of mothers but also strengthens communities and promotes healthy, informed parenting.

Goals

To make it easy for a new mom to build her new mom circle
To provide access to credible information on topics related to motherhood and childcare
To increase community engagement by offering live discussion events by experts
To conveniently sell baby essential items

Design Process

I followed the User Centered Design process: Discover➡ Research ➡ Ideate ➡ Design ➡ Test
Conducted UX research (user survey + user interviews) with a sample size of 20 users.
Collected insights were used to develop a user persona, empathy map, user scenario, and user flow.
Followed by creating paper sketches and low-fidelity wireframes and the final screens with prototyping.
Using the System Usability Scale on 5 potential users, I concluded the testing part of the app's prototype with a score of 85 meaning that users found the app easy to navigate and they understood its functions.
