Capturing the Wild Beauty of Banff and Lake Louise

A trip to Western Canada's most iconic landscapes — Banff National Park and Lake Louise — with a focus on nature and wildlife photography. The goal was to capture the raw, untouched beauty of the Canadian Rockies: the stillness of glacial lakes, the drama of mountain light, and the quiet presence of wildlife in their natural habitat.

Approach

Every shot was about patience and timing. Wildlife doesn't pose for you — you wait, you watch, and you react. I spent early mornings and late evenings chasing the best natural light across the parks, working handheld and fast when wildlife appeared, and slowing down for deliberate landscape compositions when the scene called for it.

Gear & Process

Shot entirely on a Nikon D5600 with a variety of lenses, choosing glass based on the subject — longer focal lengths for wildlife, wider angles for the sweeping mountain and lake vistas. All post-processing was done in Adobe Lightroom, with an emphasis on preserving natural color and atmosphere while bringing out the detail and mood of each scene.

The Result

A collection of images that showcase the diversity of Western Canada's wilderness — from intimate wildlife encounters to grand, panoramic landscapes. Each frame tells a story about being present in a place and letting the environment speak for itself.
