Termination Shock by Neal Stephenson
My favorite thing usually about NS novels is the exposition of big ideas. Here there is one idea and it seems to almost hang in the background. Drop everything and read this! And thank you, Neal, for bringing us this perspective. The world needed this!
Review 🕯 Kingdom of the Cursed by Kerri Maniscalco
"Instead of being ruled by fear, I could become fearless."
4/5⭐️
This sequel continues the events of Kingdom of the Wicked, where we got a glimpse of
the story of Emilia di Carlo and Prince Wrath. In the first chapter, we find Emilia, who
made the decision to sell her soul to become queen and obtain the information she desired.
However, her actions had consequences, and she could no longer turn back; she was
obliged to travel with Wrath to the Seven Circles. She felt more alone than ever because
she couldn't trust even her shadow. The world she had entered was full of traitorous
princes, mysterious parties, and chilling messages. But she couldn't give up; her duty was
to move forward to solve her sister's murder. She didn't care about the trials and obstacles
that would come her way; she would do whatever it took to uncover the truth.
My Opinion:
It took me a while to finish this book, not because it didn't engage me, but because I was
working and didn't have much time. The truth is that I liked the first one more, but this
sequel exceeded my expectations because I didn't think it would be this good. One of the
things I liked the most about this book is that we got to know a bit more about Wrath's
world. He intrigued me a lot from the beginning, and I'm satisfied with the information
the author provided. Also, I enjoyed seeing Emilia's evolution, both the good and the bad.
I feel that she grew a lot, that being away from her world gave her the opportunity to feel
and be herself.
Kerri writes in a wonderful way; it's inevitable for me to feel captivated with just
two or three sentences. I loved that she gave a more adult touch to the story and that it
didn't remain stuck in the juvenile. I felt that the plot is much larger than the previous
book. It introduced new characters, of whom I would love to know more. However, at
times, I felt that the story was a bit slow, but the last hundred pages were incredible.
I can't wait to read Kingdom of the Feared. I hope that ending gives us everything
we didn't get to know in the previous books. 💭 Have you read it? What did you think?

Review 🍂 All Too Well: The Short Film 5/5⭐️
In the opening moments, we see Ella admiring the person beside her, unable to believe
that he is real. It seems impossible that such a special man could want her this way.
Everything felt like a fairy tale, or at least that's what she thought. He made her feel
things other guys never had. By his side, she felt more mature and adventurous, but
these kinds of relationships never ended well. Having her heart broken at the end of this
story wasn't going to be a surprise.
Being so young, she didn't realize he was just playing with her mind, taking
advantage of her tenderness and lack of experience. One moment she was perfect, and
the next, she wasn't woman enough to be with him. And like a disposable object, he,
after getting what he wanted, abandoned her to continue his life as if nothing had
happened between them.
Despite spending only three months with him, the outcome destroyed her
because she knew it had been love and not just an affair. But slowly, she managed to get
out of that bed that held her as a prisoner and turned all that pain into art. Sadie Sink
and Dylan O'Brien did an extraordinary job bringing these characters to life. Both made
me see and feel everything I read in articles when I was 12 or 13 years old. At that time,
I didn't understand what Taylor was going through, but now I do perfectly. I'm horrified
by the witch hunt they did with her because of people who only manipulated her.
Have you seen it? What did you think?
