Upon arrival, I was greeted, acknowledged, and guided by everyone on staff. It made me feel very warm and welcomed. The cocktails were perfectly balanced and dangerously crushable. Being a Chicago restaurant, I was really looking forward to having a shot of Malört, but thankfully the bartender gave me the 411 on where I could score some in the city. She was a real gem. The Goat Liver Mousse was delicious, but it was the fluffy yet airy biscuits it was served with that really stole the show. They might actually be the best biscuits I’ve ever had in my life…as was that Clam Baguette. Honestly, whoever is running their bakery is a genius. The Beet Salad and Shishitos Peppers were satisfactory, but the cashews atop the Sautéed Green Beans were a gratifying surprise that I might use in my own cooking. I love an oyster, but I regret saying that the Roasted Oysters were a little overdressed, and The Sticky Glazed Pork Shank was lackluster. However, I would happily return to give more of the second courses a try. The night ended on a high note when the Sesame Cookies and Cream Ice Cream and Mango Sticky Rice hit my table.
