it increased, the steady rise of my breath
as my head pounded under a sea of rising waves.
there was nowhere to look now, fog rose
on the surface of my fingertips and dragged
me down, amidst the thunderous roars, salty
air engulfing my every being.
i longed for a light to guide me to shore,
to let me feel the soft sand beneath my feet,
seashells singing, harmonizing with the wind.
as the sunset streamed a vibrant red, peering
like a curious stranger, relief flooded as
the dam holding me erupted, shattered.
a thin crescent moon held my hand
and the sky cleared a cold dim blue.
this sheet of fog surrendered, washing
with the oncoming tide, leaving my hands,
my eyes, and for once i felt no pressure
as an ocean fog trailed behind ever so slightly.
