This YouTube podcast trailer turns a conversation with Teresa Torres into a 78-second preview of a familiar product problem: building something people do not need. I combined interview footage, selective captions, and motion graphics to make the ideas easy to follow.
The approach
The trailer needs to establish the guest, introduce the problem, and give viewers a reason to watch the conversation. I built the sequence around clear ideas and memorable exchanges, using visual explanations where the discussion becomes more abstract.
Four editorial choices behind the Teresa Torres podcast trailer.
Establish the guest quickly
The opening pairs the guest introduction with stage imagery and a treatment of Continuous Discovery Habits. It gives viewers context before moving into the tension of building the wrong thing.
Make the ideas visible
Interview cutaways support the point about learning from real customer experiences. An opportunity solution tree, animated brain graphics, and a map with pins give the more abstract points something concrete on screen. Selective captions and coral accents help key phrases stand out.
Keep the conversation human
The host and guest remain central to the edit. Speaker changes, listening shots, and reactions keep the exchange feeling like a conversation. The supporting graphics sit between these moments, allowing the personalities to carry the story.
The finished trailer
The result is a complete 78-second YouTube trailer that introduces the guest and previews the discussion through a mix of dialogue and visual explanation.
