MIT and Nord Anglia Schools - Home Labs Animated Promotions

The MITNAE is a collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Nord Anglia International Schools which helps to support STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) learning at K-12 Nord Anglia schools around the world.

This unique collaboration consisted of in-school challenges designed with MIT professors and researchers, videos produced at MIT specifically for Nord Anglia students, live webinars for students, professional development webinars for teachers, and educational trips to MIT. They provide materials that help supplement the science curriculum and, on occasion, is the school’s first introduction to the concept of STEAM.

🧾 PROJECT SCOPE 🧾  

MITNAE requested 3 animated illustrations to help promote their Youtube Home Labs series. The Home Labs series is a wildly popular on Global Campus (NAE’s internal learning platform) hosted by select MIT Undergraduate students with over 20k views for each video.

🗓 REQUIREMENTS 🗓

Should feature the current MIT undergraduate student conducting the science experiments in the videos

The sequences should be about 10 seconds in length

The color palette should reflect the MITNAE collaboration core colors

👀 AUDIENCE 👀

Although the target audience was typically teachers and Nord Anglia students K-12, MITNAE wanted this to target 6th graders.

🏆 GOALS 🏆

Generate more excitement for the videos on social media, their website and YouTube

Remind the audience that these videos are available anytime

Demonstrate their value to the MIT community

🎨 PROCESS 🎨

I watched their Home Lab Series on Youtube and chose three experiments to animate. I created the illustrations in Adobe Illustrator and animated inside Adobe After Effects.
