Cumandá is inspired by the Ecuadorian novel of the same name, reimagined through the painterly style of Oswaldo Guayasamín, one of Ecuador's most iconic artists.

A girl runs through a storm lashed jungle, fleeing into a violent river as lightning splits the sky, all captured in a single continuous shot. I wanted to make something that represents my country, and I built this using Seedance 2.5 in CapCut, refining the prompt through several iterations to get the camera movement, lighting and storm right.
