An author doesn't always need someone to “fix” their book.
Sometimes, they simply need someone to help them see what the reader will see.
Imagine this:
An author has spent months writing a manuscript.
The story is complete.
The ideas are there.
The author is proud of the work.
But when the manuscript is opened as a finished book, little things start standing out:
Uneven spacing
Inconsistent chapter headings
Awkward page breaks
Formatting that changes from page to page
A table of contents that doesn't feel polished
A layout that doesn't match the book's genre
None of these problems necessarily mean the book is bad.
They simply mean the manuscript isn't yet presenting the book at its best.
That's where professional editing and formatting make a difference.
The goal isn't to make every author's book look the same.
The goal is to make their book look like THEIR book—only more polished.
And that's something I genuinely enjoy about working with authors.
Every manuscript is different.
A children's book needs a different approach from a romance novel.
A memoir needs a different feel from a business book.
A nonfiction book isn't formatted the same way as a workbook.
The book comes first. The formatting should support it.
So before you publish, don't only ask:
“Is my manuscript finished?”
Ask:
“Does my finished manuscript feel like a finished book?”
