A fashion brand client needed a thumbnail for Instagram that would stop the scroll and drive clicks. The brief was simple: make it convert.
My Process
I designed a high-converting thumbnail in Canva, focused entirely on click-through rate. Every design decision was filtered through one question: will this make someone tap?
Here's what went into it:
Bold, contrasting colors that pop in a crowded feed
Clear visual hierarchy so the eye knows exactly where to go
Minimal text with maximum impact, using typography that communicates the value instantly
Strategic composition that works at thumbnail size, not just full-screen
Why This Matters for Brands
Thumbnails are the front door to your content. A 1% improvement in CTR on a video with 100K impressions means 1,000 more viewers. I design thumbnails that earn those extra clicks.
This approach works across YouTube, Instagram, and any platform where the thumbnail is the first (and sometimes only) chance to grab attention.
