Cadillac Music Interactive Website Development

Cadillac Music is a fully custom artist website built around a bold creative concept: what if visiting a music site felt like sitting behind the wheel of a vintage Cadillac? The result is a one-of-a-kind web experience centered on a pixel-perfect, interactive retro car radio — designed and developed from scratch.
Role: UI/UX Design + Frontend Development Stack: React, Next.js Live: pinkcadillacmusic.com

The Challenge

The client — a musical artist — needed a website that felt as distinctive as their sound. A generic portfolio template wasn't going to cut it. The goal was to create something that would stop visitors in their tracks, communicate the artist's personality instantly, and be memorable enough to be shared.
The challenge: how do you translate a musical identity into a web experience that's felt, not just seen?

Creative Direction

The concept drew from the golden era of American rock & roll — the Cadillac as a cultural symbol of style, freedom, and music. The entire site is built around a single, cinematic metaphor: the car radio as the gateway to the artist's world.
Every design decision reinforced this concept:
Color palette — Deep rose/mauve pink background evoking warmth, luxury, and nostalgia. Gold and chrome accents throughout.
Typography — A sweeping gold script logo that reads like the chrome badge on a classic car hood.
Texture & depth — The radio unit features layered shadows, metallic gradients, and brushed aluminum textures — all achieved in CSS — giving it a tactile, three-dimensional presence.
Copywriting — Even the call-to-action ("PUSH BABY") leans into the retro personality of the brand.

Technical Execution

The interactive radio was built entirely in React with Next.js for performance and routing. Key technical highlights:
Custom CSS 3D rendering — The radio knobs, frequency display, toggle switch, and button panel are all hand-crafted HTML/CSS components with realistic lighting, shadows, and perspective — no image assets for the UI elements.
Interactive controls — The on/off toggle, rotatable knobs (volume & tuning), AM/FM frequency needle, and the B-A-B-Y preset buttons are all functional, interactive elements with smooth state transitions.
Responsive layout — The experience scales gracefully across screen sizes while preserving the cinematic, full-viewport feel.
Performance-first — Built on Next.js to ensure fast load times and SEO-readiness despite the visually rich interface.

Results

A website that functions as a brand statement — visitors understand the artist's aesthetic in under 3 seconds.
Highly shareable design — the interactive radio element drives organic word-of-mouth.
Zero reliance on stock templates or UI libraries — 100% custom creative execution.
A portfolio piece that demonstrates the full spectrum of creative + technical craft: concept → design → code.

What Makes This Project Stand Out

Most artist websites look like each other. This one doesn't look like anything else on the web.
The ability to take a brand idea ("vintage Cadillac music") and transform it into a living, interactive experience — through both design and code — is exactly what makes this project a strong example of high-end creative web development.
"Designing the experience was one thing. Making the radio actually feel real — the knobs, the needle, the glow of the frequency display — that's where the magic happened."
