Despite a wave of books about the challenges of motherhood crashing on the shore of publishing these past few years, little seems to have changed materially for the mothers I know. And the more I talk to people, the more unyielding the challenges appear to be.The self may transform, but the system stays the same. Throughout this Zine we’re revisiting the theme of Motherhood because as an ever-evolving role, concept, state of being there are a multitude of angles and perspectives to explore. There is a whole spectrum of angles and emotions that surround the topic of motherhood. Whether you’ve had children, you’re trying to get pregnant, you can’t have children, you’ve suffered loss or anything in between it can be a beautiful and terrifying experience - it can be the best of times and the absolute worst.
In Motherhood zine and poster series Jenna explore's the stereotypes and stigmas around what motherhood should constitute. It links to objectification through societies toxic expectation of women and their ability to procreate. It expresses that motherhood is political and should not be undermined. It should not be considered to be something that is stigmatized or considered a job with little value.

Throughout this project I explored Motherhood and how it is a political act through clean use of design and typography.
