Cat CTA — Turning Attention Into Action With Interactive Animation

A static “Get Started” button is easy to ignore. So, I designed a fun, interactive CTA that feels alive — a cat hanging onto the CTA button.
The cat’s eyes follow your cursor.
It frowns when hovered.
It tells you to click the button if you click on it.
Its face brightens up, and it blushes if you hover over the CTA button.
It celebrates when you click on the CTA button.
It greets you and encourages you to click the button if you don't perform any action.
The goal was to explore how interactive animation could increase user engagement and conversion rates without slowing the page down.

💡 The Challenge

Static CTAs, no matter how well-written, often get lost in busy layouts. I wanted to solve a simple but powerful UX problem:
“How can we make users want to click — not just see the button?”
The challenge was to make something eye-catching, lightweight, and delightful without crossing into distraction.

⚙️ The Solution

Using LottieFiles State Machine, Adobe Illustrator, and After Effects, I built a small animation that reacts to the users' actions in real time — creating a moment of connection. The final size of the machine with its interactivity is 36kb. This means this lightweight animation will work across all devices.

💬 Why Interactive Animations Work

1. Motion attracts attention. Human eyes are drawn to movement, especially small, organic ones.
2. Feedback creates trust. Hover and click animations signal that the system is responsive — increasing perceived reliability.
3. Personality builds connection. The cat adds warmth, making the brand feel friendlier and more approachable.
4. Performance stays intact. dotLottie’s lightweight format ensures smooth loading across devices.

🔍 Looking Ahead

The Cat CTA button is a small experiment in a larger mission: to design interactive moments that feel alive — CTAs, icons, menus, and other interface elements that invite action rather than demand it.
Next, I’ll be creating more interactive Lottie experiences that combine animation, storytelling, and usability. Follow me if that interests you.
