Crochet can be overwhelming, especially if you’re a newbie. There are so many different kinds of projects and materials that you can use. It can be difficult getting learning various techniques. Sometimes the instructions you can find online aren’t the best.
This is where crochet kits come in. You can get a kit that contains the tools, yarn, and instructions required to complete the kit. You also have quality pictures of the finished project, which help you to choose what you want to make. Some sites also provide very detailed video instructions for every step of the kit. So if you’re confused about how to do something, you can bring up the video for step-by-step instructions. With the added benefit of them using the same materials you are.
From plushies to blankets, there is no shortage of kits that you can get. So here are 7 reasons why you should get a crochet kit.

1. Finding a pattern can be difficult.

I don’t know about you, but when I want to start a new project, I can get overwhelmed by all the available patterns. Between Etsy, Ravelry, and various yarn brand sites, there is no shortage of patterns. Getting crochet kits makes that easy. You also have the benefit of knowing that the pattern will work up as it should. I have run into issues getting patterns off Ravelry and then having them not work up the way I thought they would.

2. It takes time to go and get the necessary yarn.

When you find your own pattern from a book or a site, the next step is to get the required yarn. You can sometimes order it online, but the best way to get what you need is to go to your local craft store. My favorite is Michaels. That takes time and planning. You also run the risk of them not having what you’re looking for, so then you have to make another plan. Crochet kits handle all that for you. The yarn required ships with the kit, meaning no time wasted going to the store, and no worries if you won’t have enough. From my experience, the kits include more than enough yarn to complete them. This is good if you make mistakes.

3. If you’re starting out, you might not have all the required tools.

Crochet requires a variety of tools. There are several different sizes of hooks and tapestry needles. If you’re starting out, you might not have the collection of hooks an experienced crocheter does.

4. Everything comes together in one handy package.

I appreciate convenience. One of my favorite things about crochet kits is that everything comes together. One of my favorite sites to order from is Annie’s Kit Clubs. They have a lot of crochet subscriptions. With each shipment, you get all the required yarn and instructions. In the first kit of the set, you get whatever tools you’ll need to complete the project, except for scissors. It combines the fun of getting mail, with the convenience of having everything you need.

5. Some of the kits come with video instructions.

It can be challenging, even with experience crocheting, to complete a project. Especially if it includes techniques you may not be familiar with. Both Annie's and The Woobles provide video instructions for their kits. This is very helpful if you’re working on a part and it doesn’t seem to be working up right. The video instructions have saved me hours of frustration.

6. Variety.

There is a lot of variety when it comes to crochet kits. From The Woobles you get all kinds of cute little animals that you can make. Annie’s has many afghans, as well as other kinds of projects. There’s also Herrschners, which has everything from blankets to Christmas ornaments. When it comes to crochet kits, you won’t be getting bored anytime soon.

7. Helps you to increase your skills.

It’s very easy when you’re working on a craft to stick to what you know you can do. By using crochet kits, you get the chance to develop skills that you may not have attempted on your own. Annie's kits have shown me techniques I wouldn't have used on my own. With the Woobles, I had never made anything three-dimensional before. Creating amigurumi can be intimidating if you haven’t done it before. The Woobles make it fun and easy, and the video instructions help with any skill I haven’t used before.
Crochet kits have become one of my favorite ways to spend both time and money. Between the variety and the different skills I can practice, I have been able to grow in one of my favorite hobbies.
If you’re interested in learning crochet, you should check out both Annie’s Kit Clubs and the Woobles. Both offer a variety of projects to get started with enjoyable materials to work with. Check out a crochet kit, and get started on your journey to becoming a skilled craftsperson.
