Have you ever wondered why someone made a stupid decision?? Like it was so obvious that it makes you wonder how the person survived so long in this world that is built upon the rule of the survival of the fittest! Or while watching a movie, you keep on thinking that you would never have done something like that if you were the main character. Or you give your relative or a friend some advice and their dumbness makes you question your life choices.

The reason behind that decision is because they just don’t have the necessary maturity level or prior experience to make the decisions of those kinds. It’s like asking a kid the table of 10 who doesn’t know the number system yet. Or asking a kid which political party is better. Human beings have the tendency to learn things from experience.

We develop our way of thinking(including knowledge and wisdom) by interacting with the world and the people. And not all the persons have the same experiences and same lives. Different persons go through different events and experiences. In such situation, Number and variety of experiences becomes very important. And they don’t tend to come at the same time or age in every person’s life.

Because of internal and external factors such as race, gender, age, upbringing, family background, surroundings these experiences and hence one’s maturity/understanding level changes at different levels and at different times. These gaps in experience create problems like racial discrimination, gender wars, generation gaps, family disputes etc.

And advice is like giving someone a key. If the door has not appeared in someone’s life yet, giving them the key is meaningless. So, to be able to understand and tackle something at some point in life, one must have gone through certain events in his/her life, and must’ve developed the understanding of the prospects that impact the situation and then make the right decision. If that has not happened, one will not understand others’ advice no matter how right it is and how many times it is explained.

This is the reason why the advices rarely change people but the timing does. And the sad thing is that it applies to this article as well. If the time isn’t right, these words will simply become another page you’ve read.
