VeriTread — Digital Heavy-Haul Transportation Platform

A digital heavy-haul marketplace connecting equipment shippers with qualified transport providers.

VeriTread is a heavy equipment transportation platform that connects shippers with transport providers and simplifies the process of finding, bidding on, and managing heavy-haul freight.
The platform brings together freight discovery, equipment information, carrier matching, bidding, shipment management, location-based workflows, and mobile access into one connected logistics ecosystem.

The Challenge

Heavy equipment transportation is significantly more complex than standard shipping.
Every shipment can involve different:
Equipment dimensions and weight
Trailer requirements
Pickup and delivery locations
Loading restrictions
Permits and transportation requirements
Carrier capabilities
Pricing and bids
Shipment statuses
Documentation
The challenge was to turn this complex logistics process into a simple digital experience for both shippers and carriers.

The Solution

VeriTread provides a connected marketplace where shippers can list heavy equipment for transportation while qualified carriers can discover relevant freight, review shipment details, submit bids, and manage their loads.
The platform combines:
Equipment → Freight → Carrier → Bid → Shipment → Delivery
into one streamlined workflow.

My Role

I contributed to the development and improvement of the VeriTread ecosystem, with a strong focus on the mobile Carrier experience.
My responsibilities included:
Flutter mobile application development
UI implementation
API integration
Complex workflow development
Load and shipment management
Location-based functionality
Authentication and user management
Push notifications
Deep linking
Performance optimization
Bug fixing and production support
App Store and Google Play releases

VeriTread Carrier App

The Carrier App gives registered transport providers access to heavy-haul freight directly from their mobile devices.
Carriers can:
Search available loads
Save common search criteria
Watch loads before bidding
View detailed load information
Submit bids
Define rates and payment terms
Track current and future shipments
Update shipment statuses
Access work orders and contact information
Navigate to pickup and drop-off locations
Communicate with customers
The app also uses VeriTread's load-advisor capabilities to help carriers understand requirements such as trailer types, loading restrictions, port protocols, and permits.

Complex Logistics Workflows

One of the biggest challenges was making highly detailed transportation information easy to consume on a mobile device.
A single load can contain equipment specifications, dimensions, weight, pickup and delivery information, pricing, bid status, carrier requirements, and shipment details.
The mobile experience was structured to surface the most important information first while keeping deeper information accessible when needed.

Location & Navigation

Transportation is fundamentally location-driven.
The application works with pickup and delivery locations to help carriers understand where loads need to be collected and delivered.
Navigation and location functionality reduce the need for carriers to switch between multiple tools while managing their transportation workflow.

Bidding & Load Discovery

The Carrier App is built around a marketplace workflow.
Carriers can search for freight based on their requirements, review available loads, watch interesting opportunities, and submit their own bids.
This creates a direct connection between available heavy-haul freight and transportation providers.

Notifications & Deep Linking

The application also supports event-driven mobile experiences.
Push notifications can alert carriers about important changes, including winning bids and shipment updates.
Deep linking allows shared load information to open directly inside the application, creating a faster path from notification or shared content to the relevant shipment.

Technical Challenges

Complex Data

Heavy-haul logistics requires significantly more structured information than a typical marketplace.
The application needed to handle equipment specifications, dimensions, locations, bids, shipment statuses, carrier information, and transportation requirements.

Multi-Step Workflows

The carrier experience contains multiple interconnected states:
Find Freight → Review Load → Bid → Win → Pickup → Transport → Deliver
Each stage can introduce different actions, validations, notifications, and status changes.

Real-Time Updates

Carriers need timely information about their loads and bids.
The application therefore needed reliable API communication and mobile state handling to keep information current.

Mobile Performance

The app is used by transportation professionals who may be working from the field rather than from a stable desktop environment.
Performance, network handling, loading states, and error handling therefore had to be treated as core parts of the product.

Production Engineering

The application has evolved through multiple production releases with ongoing improvements.
The public App Store history includes updates for registration, performance, crash fixes, notifications, deep linking, location-search issues, bid notifications, shipment status updates, and other enhancements.
This made the project an ongoing production engineering effort rather than a one-time MVP.

Tech Stack

Mobile: Flutter, Dart Platforms: iOS & Android Backend: REST APIs / backend services Location: GPS & map-based services Notifications: Push notifications Architecture: Modular / Clean Architecture State Management: Reactive state management Integrations: REST APIs, authentication, location services Development: Performance optimization, debugging, production deployment

Outcome

The result is a mobile-first carrier experience that puts heavy-haul freight directly in the hands of transportation providers.
Instead of relying on disconnected systems to find loads, communicate with shippers, manage bids, and track shipments, carriers can manage key parts of their workflow from a single application.
The Android version has 10K+ downloads, while the iOS listing currently shows a 4.5/5 rating from 29 ratings.

From finding freight to managing delivery — all from one app.
