"Tzol" is an award-winning furniture collection developed for a national competition in artisanal innovation, inspired by the rich woodworking tradition present in Guatemala’s countryside.
We revived legacy techniques and integrated them into our collection, which is infused with symbolism and references to Guatemalan and Mayan culture, such as the Mayan temple steps represented in the table legs. Three different types of precious woods grown in Guatemala were used, along with other elements like amber resin.
The project was selected as one of the top three in its category and received an honorable mention at the 2022 Ibero-American Design Biennial, being one of the few projects representing Guatemala.
