This book offers a brief overview about the mindfulness philosophy along with practical tips and exercises for dealing with mild depression, anxiety and stress. Mindfulness is a philosophy about maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment through a nurturing and loving lens. When we practice mindfulness, our goal is to tune into the present moment rather than ruminating about the past or worrying about the future. The goal of mindfulness is for us to slow down and pay attention. This book educates the reader about the various clinical forms of stress, anxiety and depression with an emphasis on seeking professional treatment along with the practices. The seven attitudes of mindfulness are introduced. This constitute the pillars of mindfulness under the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program of the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. These attitudes constitute the foundation upon which the reader will be able to build a strong mindfulness and meditation practice of their own.
