Background : Back in October 2021, when my team (we are students there) and our lecturer discussed the communication department's social media, which doesn't have any team and the social media has not been managed yet. We are a first-generation team of social media specialists, so it is a challenge for us to bring this social media to engage and create relevant content for the audience.

After we know about the background, let's talk about brand guidelines. So, we received two different brand guidelines from the uni and department. Our department has a multicultural identity with "acceptance of diversity and plurality," as we have many students from various regions in Indonesia with different cultures and languages. We created a multicultural identity as the department brand guideline but did not leave the uni brand guidelines. We also get different content planning themes for daily posts so that we know what content is needed and relevant for the target audience, which can make it easier for us to create content.

📱Content Pillars :

  1. Promotional : soft selling - students, lecturers, departement activities and facilities, etc
  2. Entertainment : meme, quiz, giveaway, challenge
  3. Educational : tips and tricks, quote in communication, review viral, communication webinar, etc

💻 The Content Creations :

So here are the content creations. We create this design for Instagram posts for students and alums and promotions for prospective new students. So they know about the information and activities in our Communication department.

We create the content to look colourful because we have a multicultural identity, so we put bright colours in the design with different colours for everyday posts.

After we had made this post for almost two weeks, we got a DM from the student. He asked, "Why is the design colour so bright and annoying my eyes 👀 ? Why don't you use the calm colour." After that, in weekly meetings, we told this to our lecturer, who guides us on social media, and he said, "So our design is in line with expectations because it is annoying and damages their eyes 😁😂."
